Filippo Gaggini

Managing Partner

Filippo has more than 20 years of private equity experience. He began working in private equity as a vice president within the private equity division of Banca Commerciale Italiana. After four years Filippo moved to The Carlyle Group in Milan as a director where he was also involved in setting up the Italian private equity business.

He then spent nine years working at Investitori Associati where he was promoted to senior partner in 2008; during this period, he helped set up the Italian business, was involved in fundraising and led a number of transactions.

Before joining Progressio in July 2011 as Managing Partner, Filippo was senior partner at Investindustrial and collaborated with UK and Italian private equity funds both as deal originator and potential investor.

During his career he completed more than 30 transactions in sectors of Italian excellence.

Filippo has a Degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University and is a Chartered Accountant.

Angelo Piero La Runa

Partner

Piero has more than 15 years of private equity experience. Prior to joining Progressio in 2005, he was an investment manager with Mittel Group (2000-2005) where he was involved in the assessment and execution of investment opportunities for Mittel Private Equity.

Piero initially joined Mittel Group as an associate where he was involved in the financial analysis and support of M&A and debt restructuring transactions.

Piero holds a Degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University.

Nino Mascellaro

Partner

Nino has more than 15 years of private equity experience. Prior to joining Progressio in 2005, he was an investment manager at Centrobanca (an Italian Investment bank) in Milan (2000-2005), where he was involved in the analysis, negotiation and execution of investment opportunities.

Prior to this, Nino was a credit analyst covering corporate lending to SMEs for the Italian bank UBI Banca (1999-2001).

Nino holds a Degree in Economics and Management from Insubria University.

Guido De Vivo

Founder, Non-executive

Guido has over 30 years’ experience in private equity and led the management buyout of Progressio in 2009 having spent 18 years as CEO of Mittel between 1989 and 2007

Prior to that he was CEO of Credito Milanese. Earlier in his career Guido was general manager of Pasfin Servizi Finanziari (Sopaf Group)

Guido has held roles as CFO and CEO of leading Italian companies and was one of the promoters of the private equity fund Chase-Mittel Directional Fund (later JP Morgan-Mittel Directional Fund). He began his career at The Boston Consulting Group

Guido holds a Degree in Law cum laude from Federico II University, Naples (1967) and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School

Luciano Balbo

Chairman, Non-executive

Luciano has over 30 years’ experience in private equity as an entrepreneur.

Before becoming chairman of Progressio in 2013, Luciano founded Fondazione Oltre, the first Italian venture philanthropy foundation and in 2006 he launched the innovative Social Investment Fund, Oltre Venture. Prior to that Luciano co-founded B&S Private Equity in 1988.

Previously, he held senior management roles in companies operating in the chemical and steel sectors and was General Director of Finnova (SO.PA.F spa), the first venture capital company in Italy.

Alessandro d’Arco

Investment Director

Alessandro has more than 15 years of private equity experience. Prior to joining Progressio in 2007, he worked as a senior analyst for the advisory firm Livolsi & Partners (2004-2007).

Before that Alessandro worked as analyst for the private equity firms Convergenza (2002-2004) and Paladin Capital Partners (2002-2003).

Alessandro holds a Degree in Economics from the University of Cagliari and a Master in Venture Finance from the University of Pavia.

Alessandro Petraccia

Investment Director

Alessandro has more than 10 years of private equity experience and prior to joining Progressio in 2008, he worked as analyst at Quadrivio SGR S.p.A. (2006-2007) a private equity firm based in Milan.

Prior to that Alessandro worked as an analyst for G.Trinetti & Partners, a corporate finance consulting firm.

Alessandro holds a Degree in Economics and Management from the University of Pescara and a Masters in Business Administration from ESCP.

Beatrice Capretti

Investment Manager

Beatrice has more than eight years’ private equity experience and prior to joining Progressio in 2009, she was a junior analyst in the leverage finance team at Unicredit Market & Investment Banking (Jan’08-Dec’08) in Milan.

Before that, Beatrice undertook an internship in the financial sponsors coverage team of the Italian bank Capitalia (2007).

Beatrice holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Accounting, Corporate Finance and Control from Bocconi University.

Massimo Dan

Associate

Massimo joined Progressio in 2014 with a short break in 2016 working as a senior associate at Dundee Sarea, an international mid-market private equity fund focused on special situations.

Prior to that, Massimo worked as an associate for the advisory firm Klecha & Co (2010-2014). Massimo also completed internships at Lazard & Co. and KPMG in Milan.

Massimo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Master of Science in Accounting, Corporate Finance and Control from Bocconi University.

Mattia Balagion

Associate

Mattia prior to joining Progressio in 2016, worked as an associate for the advisory firm Klecha & Co (2014-2016). Before that, Mattia worked as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche (2011-2014).

Mattia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Master of Science in Business Administration, Accounting and Finance from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

Nicola Carbone

CFO

Nicola prior to joining Progressio in 2011, worked as an administrative officer at Investitori Associati (2007-2011) a private equity firm based in Milan.

Before that, Nicola worked as a senior fund administrator at Engineering S.p.A. (2004-2007), a fund administrator firm based in Milan. Nicola also worked as a Consultant at Caridata S.p.A. (2001-2003) an IT company based  in Milan.

Nicola holds a Degree in Economics and Banking from the University of Siena.
